Floral + Plant Care

Care Guidance For Flowers and Plants

Please check for your specific product below to find the best care tips to help maximize the life of your gift. Please note that if you are not following proper care of your flowers or plants, we may not be able to offer our quality guarantee.

Vase Arrangements

If you received a vase arrangement of fresh cut floral stems filled with water, please follow these instructions:

  • Our team delivers all vase arrangements with fresh, clean water. On the day of your delivery, simply enjoy!
  • Try not to touch your flowers too much (we know it's tempting!) The oils from your hands can cause premature damage to the petals and give the appearance that they are wilting.
  • Change your water daily, do not add water! When you add water, you are allowing bacteria to continue to grow in your vase. When you dump out the water and completely change, you are providing a completely clean environment for your stems.
  • Use fresh, room temperature-to-cool water to replace the water. If you have a water softener or harsh water, consider using filtered or distilled water. You can add a few ice cubes inside your vase to keep the water cool, but try not to shock your flowers by going from one extreme temperature to another too quickly.
  • Every few days, give your stems a fresh, angled cut to allow the stems to continue to drink water easily.
  • Make sure there are no greens or flowers sitting below water level. When this happens, it encourages bacteria growth, and shortens the lifespan of your flowers.
  • Keep your flowers in a room temperature-to-cool space away from direct sunlight. Direct sunlight may cause burn marks on your petals, or cause the water to get too warm.

Floral Foam Arrangements

If you received a floral arrangement built in oasis floral foam, please follow these instructions:

  • Our team delivers all floral foam arrangements with fully watered foam. On the day of your delivery, DO NOT ADD WATER. Doing so may cause overflow, which may damage the container. Simply enjoy!
  • Try not to touch your flowers too much (we know it's tempting!) The oils from your hands can cause premature damage to the petals and give the appearance that they are wilting.
  • Starting from the second day, use your finger to feel the floral foam for dryness. If it feels dry or almost dry, use a measuring cup to SLOWLY add water back, and allow absorption before continuing to add water as to not cause overflow.
  • Keep your flowers in a room temperature-to-cool space away from direct sunlight. Direct sunlight may cause burn marks on your petals, or cause the water to get too warm.
  • If your flowers drink a lot of water, you can use a clean spray water bottle to lightly mist your arrangement from the top to help keep them hydrated.
  • Do not move flowers around in your arrangement. Moving the flowers in the floral foam may cause damage/holes in the foam that will make it impossible for the flowers to continue to drink from.

Hydrangeas + Thirsty Flowers

Some flowers like to drink a lot of water. If your arrangement contains these flowers, please check your vase often to ensure the flowers have enough to drink.

  • Hydrangea
  • Sunflower
  • Lily
  • Dahlia
  • Tulip
  • Iris
  • Orchid
  • Alstromeria

You can use a clean spray water bottle to lightly mist your arrangement from the top to help keep them hydrated.

If your hydrangeas look like they are wilting, you can remove them from your arrangement and leave them head down in a vase or bucket of clean water overnight. You should see them plump up and return to their former state.

Plants

All plant care is individual based on your specific plant received. Each of our plants that we send are indoor house plants, and do best inside with indirect sunlight. All plants are being cared for prior to being sent out, and do not need to have any care until the week following the delivery. Here are some common plants we deliver and care instructions for them:

  • Peace Lily
    • Water the soil until the top inch is moist but not saturated, and allow to dry out between waterings. Keep near a humidifier or mist the leaves regularly. Avoid direct sunlight as to not burn the leaves. Prune any dried or yellowed leaves. If your leaves are drooping, you can soak your plant and re-pot to get a deeper water, then resume regular watering routine. It is normal for for the blooms to die and regrow periodically. You can re-pot in a larger container every couple of years to encourage new growth.
  • Pothos
    • Water the soil until the top inch is moist but not saturated, and allow to dry out between waterings. Keep near a humidifier or mist the leaves regularly. Avoid direct sunlight as to not burn the leaves. Prune any dried leaves. You can re-pot in a larger container every couple of years to encourage new growth. If your vines become too long, you can cut at the node and place the stem in water until roots grow, then pot in a new container to create a new plant.
  • Money Tree
    • Water the soil until the top inch is moist but not saturated, and allow to dry out between waterings. Keep near a humidifier or mist the leaves regularly. Avoid direct sunlight as to not burn the leaves. Prune any dried leaves. You can re-pot in a larger container every couple of years to encourage new growth.
  • Phalaenopsis Orchid
    • Orchid plants are delivered in separate draining containers. Remove the drainage container to water your orchid and allow all excess water to drain out before placing back inside the decorative pot. Water when the plant is mostly dry, usually every 1-2 weeks, to avoid over-watering. While removed, check for any root-rot/soggy roots and cut off to avoid infection. Place your plant in bright indirect light, and try to avoid direct light or dark corners. When the blooms wilt, cut your stems back to the leaves and re-pot with fresh orchid mix.
  • Anthurium
    • Water the soil until the top inch is moist but not saturated. Keep near a humidifier or mist the leaves regularly. Avoid direct sunlight as to not burn the leaves. Remove any dried or drooping blooms to encourage new growth.
  • Bromeliad
    • Water your plant in the "central cup" of leaves using fresh water instead of the soil. Keep near a humidifier or mist your leaves regularly. After flowering, the mother plant will die but will produce "pups" which can be re-potted to grow new plants
